The first year at Parson is very hardQuite BrightInterior Design
The first year at Parson is very hard but if you manage to come trough you will understand how much you have grow personally. They throw you into the fire first year to get rid of the people who are not worthy. That is why the drop out rate is so high. If you manage to overcome that you are part of the select group and the way you have dealt with pressure and stress is only going to help you when you get to the REAL world. This life is NOT for everybody!! It completely depends on what you want. People here are not afraid to work hard for what they want, but, from the first year I have noticed that although everyone is determined they are still generous and kind whit sharing what they know. The first year allows you to collaborate with people in different majors and if you play it smart you will build your contact because you never know whose help you need later on. The city itself is extremely overwhelming but it gives you so much in return. It takes real grit to continue ploughing through but it only shows your capabilities.

Everyone has a subjective experience and that depends on the professors you get in your classes. This could range from, "absolutely life changing experiences," to "a complete waste of time." Here it is up to you to do research on your classes and professors to make sure that you select the best for you. Every department has amazing, life changing professors and if you want that it is your responsibility to find it.

PS: The social scene here is pretty good if I might add. It's a great way to network with people who are big in the design world

Question
Would not recommend especially to those who areQuite BrightFine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
Would not recommend especially to those who are not very wealthy. It was very hard for me to find work and after I did was left with a $15/hour job that is vaguely related to my major. The misconception this university claims about living off of freelance work is a joke. I'm now left with student loans that will take me years to pay off. Wish I had went to community college or taken private or cheap design classes and maybe done some traveling with that fortune. Instead I'm left with very little, some friends and I got to say "I went to Parsons" but anyone could lie about that! I recommend you save your time and money and just lie on your r?sum?. I was young and stupid at the time and was fascinated and brainwashed into thinking this school was worth it, in hindsight I regret falling for the hype.

Question
Parsons is known as design school, and itsQuite BrightArchitecture
Parsons is known as design school, and its reputation as an architecture school is rather new and weaker than in other departments. However, the faculty and infra-structure of the school make up to its program youth, with faculty that will challenge students all the time, encourage them to go deeper into the subjects, and improve constantly. The student body is not the best tho: most international students only care about getting their degree and returning home, and won't look to form any real friendships. As for the Americans, I found them nice, but very competitive and not social enough. In such a massively demanding environment it's necessary to take advantage of NYC's nightlife to chill, and most students don't seem to be that social, concentrating too much on the studio. My overall experience was a very good one: professionally, I feel much more prepared than before I entered Parsons. However, I feel that had I attended another school I would have more friends, and less 'contacts'.
